PivotLink

Rather than the traditional approach of buying connectors, ETL software, a BI engine and reporting software, PivotLink offers an end-to-end solution that can be deployed quickly and is an order of magnitude more affordable.

PivotLink started out as SeaTab in 1998. They've developed a schema-less, high-performance, scalable, secure analytics-engine and added a top-end web UI in Q1, 2010. PivotLink is certified SAS 70 Type II at both the application and data center levels. Enterprises are storing HIPAA data in PivotLink. They are financially stable and have received significant investment to expand. They generate $10MM/year in revenue, have a solid customer base, and a well-engineered cloud solution. Customer satisfaction levels are high.

PivotLink is an excellent upgrade from Business Objects, MicroStrategy and Cognos. With those legacy systems, business users must rely on IT to connect the relational data. When something in the organization changes, it can take a month and $30K of labor to get the changes made. The legacy analytics solutions focus on pulling data from single source applications for reporting. It is very hard to expand them to get data from other sources.

PivotLink's answer is bringing unstructured data into the cloud via nightly feeds and letting business users establish metadata layer rules to connect the data. Specialized connectors to source systems are not required, so it is much faster to get started. PivotLink also provides flexibility when organizational structures or source systems change as the changes can be handled a the metadata layer and reports do not have to be re-written. It is great for companies who grow through acquisition and want analytics even though source systems are undergoing change.

We've evaluated the cloud analytics market and think PivotLink is the best option because PivotLink frees up IT staff to do other things.

PivotLink prices their solution on rows of data stored, not number of users. Total cost of ownership is low compared with other business intelligence vendors.
